Ontario Hockey Federation (OHF) Regulation Changes

 

Please find attached four amendments as passed by the Ontario Hockey Federation.  This was forwarded in March, however, there were some questions regarding one of the regulation changes which has now been resolved and the approval for distribution was provided.

Please find attached four amendments to OHF Regulations effective immediately.  Of specific interest to the MHL, please note the following attachments:
E91 – Residential Transfer requirements
G3 – Tampering (The biggest change of this regulation is the fine from $500 to $2,000)
E98 – The only MHL relevant change in this regulation involves OHF rule E59 and E60 and affects MIDGET HOCKEY ONLY as follows: 

For Midget Hockey in E59 (a), (b), (c) and E60 the May 31 date shall be replaced by September 30.

E59: In order to retain a player requiring a written release, the Association/Club with which the player is registered must offer the player an opportunity to an unused roster spot for the upcoming season which must be sent by:

1)       Registered mail postmarked by May 31;

2)       Courier date stamped by May 31; or

3)       Personal service by May 31 to be verified by sworn affidavit(s) of the deliverer and a witness to the delivery.

E60: If a player decides not to “show up” for tryouts, the team still has an obligation to offer the player a card for the year.  If the player is not offered a card by May 31, the player is automatically released.  The purpose of this is to protect both the player and the club.  If there are “differences” between the player and club that cannot be worked out, there is the right to appeal for a release.

E28-E42 – This regulation change involves ‘AAA’ Waivers (which is not of concern to the current MHL)
