MHL Release Policy
Rule 30.05
A person who is
registered as a Team Official in one Season may not,
without the consent of the Association with which such
person is registered as a Team Official, be registered or
appear on the bench in the immediately following Season as
a Team Official for a Team in the immediately higher
age division of another Association or Organization (in
this context “Organization” would include any Club that is a
member of the GTHL or any of its Divisions). The
consent of an Association required by this Rule 30.05 must be
provided in writing and be signed by one of its officers
or be provided to the MHL Office by an Association
officer. An Association may withhold its consent in its sole
and absolute discretion, however the M.H.L Board of
Directors or a Special Committee thereof may make special
rulings in situations in reference to this Rule 30.05 where it
is deemed that an Association has acted in a manner
that is inconsistent with the proper administration of
minor hockey in any jurisdiction under the auspices of Hockey
Canada.
Meadowvale is one of the MHL
Associations that does not grant releases to team officials wishing
to leave to coach at levels of hockey offered by our association. We invest considerably in
our team officials, and we expect that investment to benefit our
association, its players and families. Further, officials
“recruiting” players to form future teams create a disruption to the
quality of the current season’s program, and House League teams
recruited, selected or actively practicing prior to the September
evaluations are in violation of MHL rules and policy.
