the Majors!
Tuesday, August 28,
2007 FOR
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors are
excited to announce that they’ll be holding a
“Meet the
Majors” barbecue at Mississauga Civic Square (city hall)
on Saturday, September 8 from 11-3:00 p.m. There will
be entertainment provided for all age levels and a press
conference will be held at noon, featuring Mississauga
Mayor Hazel McCallion and Majors Owner Eugene Melnyk.
The
event will feature numerous kids’ activities such as the
Majors shooting inflatable and face painting. Also,
City Centre Drive will be blocked off and an exciting
street hockey tournament is expected to break out!
Many
of the Majors corporate and community partners will be
on-hand to distribute materials. At the same time, the
team will be handing out prizing for future games.
Also, there will be live music, Rogers Television will
be swinging by with their Community Cruiser, and a
number of Majors players will be on-hand to sign
autographs.
The
best part is that it’s all free-of-charge! Come join in
the fun as the Majors make their official launch in
their new city!
The
Majors events team has been actively involved in many
City of Mississauga initiatives this summer, such as My
Mississauga events at the Civic Centre and key community
gatherings such as the Bread & Honey Festival,
Waterfront Festival, Rotary Ribfest and Canada Day.
Also, club representatives delivered a message on
nutrition and active living to ten sports camps during
the months of July and August.
The
Majors 2007-08 regular season home-opener takes place on
Friday, October 5 versus the Windsor Spitfires at 7:30
p.m.
