It seems like the season
just ended, but registration for the 2010-2011 hockey season is
almost upon us.
We will start accepting
2010-2011 registrations for new and returning players as of
Saturday, May 15th, 2010.
Registration for the
2010-2011 season will again utilize the Hockey Canada Registration (HCR)
system. This system is used by all leagues across Canada and is
governed, maintained, and developed by Hockey Canada. All members
of the GTHL, OMHA, and Alliance will be using this system again this
season. The HCR offers a very secure system which will ensure
privacy of information for all members.
This HCR system is not a new
system, and has been updated from last year for easier use.
Returning players will need
to enter their email address and passwords. If you’ve forgotten your
password there’s a convenient tab to request it from Hockey Canada
(we don’t have access to passwords)

New players:
Who are registering with the MHL or with Meadowvale for the first
time will go through the same procedure as returning players. You
will be accepted as space permits.
Please record your user id/password and keep it safe… you will need
this to access your details at a later date to make any
changes/updates, to download your Fitness Tax Credit receipt, and to
register for next season
The Process:
All registrations will take place on-line. (Payment can be handled
on-line by credit card or by cheque or
money order by mail.) As in the past, players are only allowed to
register and play with one MHL Association. Once you register with
Meadowvale, or any other Association within the MHL, you will be
committed to that Association until you are either accepted or
declined, if there are no spots available.
The HCR system is a bit
“quirky” so it might not hurt to print the following info and keep
it hand for when you register. Our two Co-registrars are
volunteers, handling this process in their spare time. The more
“issues” you can resolve on your own, the happier we’ll all be.
All player registrations
will require you to:
-
Be a resident of the City of Mississauga
-
Have an email address
-
Have a Birth Certificate/Registration number or Passport
number
-
Agree to the City of Mississauga & MHL
Fair Play Code of Conduct
Key Points:
When registering, watch for
fields marked with an asterisk (*)… these fields are mandatory. The
red asterisk isn’t always very obvious against the background
of HCR.
When you set up your
Profile, please ensure that the name/address info matches the info
related to the credit card holder who will be paying for the
registrant(s). (Assuming, that is, that you wish to pay by credit
card.) This is one issue that “haunted” us with the old
registration system… if the registrant’s address didn’t match the
address on the payer’s credit card statement, the transaction was
voided.
Early in the process you’ll
see a spot to enter your “Hockey ID”. If you don’t have one… don’t
worry about this field. (Leave it blank.) Later in the process
you’ll see a field for “Discount Codes”… you can leave this one
blank as well. (Multiple player discounts are handled separately
from this.)
Certain older Internet Explorer version 6 browsers have issues at
the Address section of Online Registration. They do not have any
fields to type in information and cannot continue. It is not ALL
version 6 browsers; it is a specific version of that version
6 browser that, for some reason, does not show the address fields on
that page. You can check your Internet Explorer version by clicking
on Help > About Internet Explorer within Internet
Explorer.
IIt
is recommended that you update your browser to the newest version by
going to the Microsoft Update site at
http://update.microsoft.com/ since version 6 is over 7
years old and is extremely insecure. This Microsoft website will
scan your computer for any Microsoft
updates that your computer needs, including version 8 of Internet
Explorer. It is easy to use. Simply follow the few steps required.
You may have a lot of updates to install. You may need to go to the
site multiple times to catch all the updates since certain updates
require other updates before you can install them. You’ll know
you’re done updating when it tells you that there are no updates.
House League
Cancellation & Release Policy:
Once your registration with
Meadowvale is complete, cancellation charges (below) will apply. If
you wish to leave Meadowvale to play for another Association, you
will require a Release from the Meadowvale President. However, the
Release is at the discretion of the President and is not automatic.
No Release can be given after November 15. Cancellation charges for
House League registrations are deducted as follows:
Before August 15th
$ 75.00
August 16th – September 11th
$ 125.00
September 12th – November 2nd
$ 250.00
After November 2nd
No refund
Registration of players
living outside of Mississauga is not allowed under any
circumstances. All players must be 100% residents of Mississauga.
If you are a player who is moving into Mississauga before November 1st,
you must supply a copy of your proof of purchase agreement dated
with the possession date. Approval must then be obtained from the
MHL. Players found in contravention of this rule will be removed
from the MMHA and no refund will be given.
Discounts:
There is an “Early Bird”
discount for all players until July 1st. For families
with more than one
player registered with Meadowvale, there is a sibling
discount as follows:
1st
player Full fee
2nd player discount $50.00
3rd player discount $100.00
Subsequent players $200.00 (or the full fee,
whichever is less)
Note that taking an
incorrect discount WILL delay your registration approval while we
track down the discrepancy.
Payment Methods:
As in previous years we will
continue to accept credit cards. In addition, we will accept
certified cheques or money orders. However, in order to keep our
costs and registration fees as low as possible, we will no longer be
accepting personal cheques as we have experienced a number NSF
problems in the past. We apologize in advance for any inconvenience
that this may cause, but hope you understand our need to contain
costs. Please mail money orders or certified cheques to:
PO Box 21113,
6677 Meadowvale Town Centre Circle,
Mississauga, ON L5N 6A2.
Acceptance Policy:
Returning players
-

July 1st and paid in full will be accepted.

will only be offered a space if one is available.
New players
-
New players will be placed on a waiting

processed until payment has been received.
