TEAM MOMS / TEAM DADS

TEAM MOMS / TEAM DADS make a difference ......

Team Moms/Team Dads help the coach in various aspects of operating a team.  Especially for the younger  teams, the whole hockey experience can be made by something as small (or big) as the post game treat.

Team Moms/Team Dads assist the coach in handling the details of creating and maintaining parent schedules for post game treats, setting up team get-togethers for players and parents and organizing fundraising or other events.

This section of our website will be dedicated to news and happenings for team moms/team dads. Information on how they can make the Meadowvale Minor Hockey Team experience more fun for not only the players but the entire family.

POST GAME TREATS (Ideas & Guidelines)

After a game, players may require replenishment of liquids they may have lost during the game.  Consider drinks that are natural (apple or orange juice without sweeteners, water and sports drinks for the older ages) rather than soft drinks (cola's, etc.) ....

SO YOU WANT TO BE A TEAM MOM/TEAM DAD!!!

...BUT KNOW LITTLE or NOTHING ABOUT HOCKEY
No Problem .... read the following ...

The Basics!
Hockey teams move a puck along the ice using stick handling, passing, and shooting in an effort to score goals. A goal counts as one point and is scored when the puck completely crosses the opposing goal line between the posts and under the crossbar. The team scoring the greater number of goals in the allotted time wins the game.

What's Needed?

Skates, hockey stick, hockey gloves, shoulder, shin, and elbow pads, CSA approved helmet with face mask and chin strap, neck guard, mouth guard (optional but recommended), hockey pants, garter belt, and athletic supporter with cup.

How Long Is A Game?
A professional game is divided into three equal periods, separated by fifteen-minute breaks.

"A" teams and House League Teams operate within the Mississauga Hockey League rules which are 3 ten minute stop time periods which begin with a “face-off” at the center circle. If a team is more than 5 goals ahead of the other, then there is no stop time during the final 5 minutes of the game. Teams switch playing sides after each period and are allowed one time-out per game.

Ice Puppy (4-6 Year Olds) teams play a 39 minute game with a change of lines every 3  minutes.  No score is kept at Ice Puppy games.
